Lost Dogs
Losing a beloved pet is every responsible pet owner's worst nightmare. Below are some tips to help you reunite with your cat or dog:
- Contact local veterinary offices, grooming stores and pet supply stores - often times finders of lost pets will visit these areas first and check the bulletin boards for flyers of found pets
- Check your local animal control facility or shelter. This is likely the first place your dog will end up - give as much information as you can and take a recent photo of your dog
- Speaking of photos - take a lot of them. While we all love our dogs, sometimes when tragedy strikes, we realize we only have puppy photos of our senior dog who looks a great deal different
- Microchip your dog and register the chip information. Microchips don't work towards reunification unless you activate them and be sure to update the chip information when ever you move or your contact information changes.
- Keep a tag on your dog at all times, even when inside. A dog or cat can bolt out of a door at any time. During high traffic times where you have a lot of visitors or exterior doors are opening throughout the day, consider placing your dog in a crate or your cat in a room with the door closed.
- Most importantly, never lose hope! Pets can travel a very long distance and we have had cases where animals were located hundreds of miles away - weeks, months or years after being lost.
I just wanted to let you know that our dog, who went missing over 2 months ago, is still not home. Our last sightings put Gracie around or near Royal Oaks Drive, Bart Manous Rd and East Cherokee Dr, near the Hickory Flat Dance Academy, in Canton GA 30115. However, she seems to be roaming. A map and more information is available on Facebook (http://on.fb.me/lFb1aX) and Canton/Sixes Patch (http://patch.com/N-YV4). She may even have been taken in by someone, but we hope she will eventially be sighted or taken to a vet or shelter (Gracie is microchipped).
If you spot Gracie, please contact her owners
